The light has a manual on/ off button on the side. Once the light is switched on, it is operated based on a daylight sensor - dusk to dawn [automatically comes up at night and off during the day for a recharge].

For more advanced control options we suggest you may have a look at this solar powered batten light. It has two models: with motion sensor unit and without. Both options come with remote control.

I have a medium/large silver birch tree approx 10 metres tall, which i would like to illuminate each spring in order to deter possums that eat all the new leaf shoots (I am worried the tree will die). As a bonus, the white bark will reflect nicely a . . .

Thank you for your enquiry about the solar lights for trees.

In general, for the tall trees, we suggest some spotlights, as they may not be as powerful as some floodlights, however, they deliver more focused light that is able to reach the tree.

These some models are particularly great as they allow to highlight the tree from a few angles that feature the tree more evenly rather than from one light source

They are weatherproof – full outdoor exposure – IP65; however, they are not waterproof in terms of going completely under the water.

Alternatively, you may have a look at our flood lights:

https://sunnybunny.com.au/solar-lights/solar-flood-lights/universal-security-led-solar-floodlight-twin-light-with-motion-sensor.html#/74-emitting_colour-white/179-model-200e This is a good option as there are two powerful lights and one solar panel, so again you will be able to highlight the tree from two angles. This model is 2000lm, two other powerful models would be brighter and maybe even better for the taller tree

this is something different, you can select one particular colour or let it run in auto colour change

We are not sure if the lights would be efficient in deterring possums, however, we also have some solar-powered animal repellers to scare away pests, animals, birds etc: https://sunnybunny.com.au/solar-animal-repellers/
